Looking good! I like the second floor. I have a large metal building, but no second floor. That would be great for sleeping quarters if needed :bitch::D

Lucky for me BBT and I just don't argue. Ever.

Imagine it'd be right difficult to get her to sleep out there!!

Today's fun was painting the right hand outside wall.

I also fixed an inconvenience.

When the back rolling door was opening it would contact this piece of exterior trim.

I made a wedge from a piece of PT wood outta the scrap pile.

IMG_20221029_140027862.jpg

Pre Drilled the holes and sanded it.

IMG_20221029_140038193.jpg

Solved!

Now the door rides up the ramp and clears the trim.

We haven't settled in on a color scheme for the doors yet.

If'n it makes you feel better the actual green color Trina The Paint Department and Head of The Decorating Board finalized at is called:

Spinach.

Popeye approved.

I've held much conference with her and she assures me/us/you there will be no yellow anything.

AAAGGGHHH!!!!!

NO PURPLE !!!!!

I'd like to remind the color police committee that all our previous builds have some sort of red or related color. Even The Military Tribute Tractor Millie has flags.

Here's a better picture of the right side we painted yesterday.

IMG_20221030_152129.jpg.63d7c6d6c67edb8bf7f50ec28b48c659.jpg

And the left side we did today.

The little bit left at the top will be finished up when The Paint Department gets a free minute and after the 5 doors are all painted.

Why two service doors on the right side and non on the left side? You going to put a dividing wall in to make two separate workshops?

Interesting you'd mention that!!

We put our 6 ft fiberglass stepladder in there tonight.

You're close.

Back is metal workshop.

Front of the first floor will be vehicle storage. Garage.

Our insurance company is mandating that IIFF we decide to use any solid fuel or open flame heat source we must not have it in the vehicle storage area.

At some point when we get a heater in there we'll have to install a solid wall with no opening to the garage from the area the heat source is in.

We have.

She and I both like the look of wood grain and stained wood.

It's a longevity issue.

We're actually using solid stains.

NOT paint.

I keep writing paint because I'm.... silly.  🤪

Solid stain lifespan is 10 to 15 years.

Semi solid is 5 to 10 years.

Clear stains last 2 to 4 years.

My experience in this environment shows the earlier is the norm, particularly on the bottom 2 to 3 feet of a building.

We don't want be sanding and  recoating every 2 or 3 years.

I don't know your building layout and existing power locations but given your soil conditions have you considered running a 'permanent' overhead line with a messenger wire?

Interesting idea. Hadn't heard the term.

I learned something new again!!

We'll be getting permanent power sometime next year from a standard utility pole set-up.

There's a pole at the end of the driveway that goes out to the right from the front of the building.

Separate meter from the house. 100 amp service.

If you're having the power company run it they will have it as part of the conductors they run. But a messenger wire can be run with various types of conductor support. It sounds like you already have a plan. I should have known you would. You haven't missed a beat on this building. :)

In my area a second service will pay commercial rates, even if it would be considered residential it would still be more than just one service.  YMMV
