I'll get some current pics today.

The size is amazing in person.

Hopefully I miscalculated in favor of "too much space".

:wh: sticker is a must.

The crew put in some good work today.

All the 26 holes were backfilled.

Floor leveled.

Concrete forms mostly in place. (The forms stay forever).

They also put up quite a few purlins between the poles.

Me n a friend helped the 3 of them move the trusses across the yard so they're out of the way of the concrete trucks and also within reach of the crane.

We should have concrete floor by Friday or Monday.

Trusses up within 2 weeks.

They're aiming for 11'-6" to 12'  Interior ceiling height first floor.

That's much higher than the 8 to 9 feet I thought we were getting and a VERY welcome surprise.

Now is the time to have them install footings for a two post lift!

Can you say "change order" ?

Those are the unspeakable words.

But should they be uttered, there’s a credit due for helping schlep those trusses across the yard!

Before you know you’ll be looking for ways to keep the chipmunks out and knocking down the hornets nests. 😜

No issues from anyone we've dealt with yet.

I truly believe heaven may have smiled upon you.  Here’s wishing your good luck holds out through construction, the warranty period and beyond!

Much appreciated sir.

We were VERY careful and selective on choosing the original loan writers, excavation company, and builder.

It was pure luck that the construction loan bank is also excellent.

Here's a pic from yesterday that Trina snapped and I didn't know it....

@WHX??

If you zoom in at the bottom of the walls you'll see the PT boards (2 x 10??) Used to hold the concrete.

202541424_IMG_20220926_2314042.jpg.4af504426836921251f13173e0b39e50.jpg

Rather than apply and remove forms that can only be reused so many times this builder makes the forms part of the structure. The concrete will sit about 2" below the top of the forms.

Those boards are left in place and will be what amounts to sill plates.

The next board above those is a horizontal piece of 1 x 10 pine, then the vertical pine siding.

The concrete wraps the bases of the posts which helps hold them in place.

Is the concrete only being used in the center section?

Will they put down a 'vapor barrier' under the concrete pour?

Well, I'm not sure when you secured your construction loan or the rate you negotiated, but given what has gone on in the economy lately, I dare say you likely just crawled under and cleared the rapidly closing overhead door of easier financing before it slammed shut or extracted a much dearer penalty in cold hard greenbacks and warm, oxygenated blood.

It's an interesting project and the structure will serve you well for a long time to come. Particularly given the tough weather you face for long periods of the year.

Following with interest.......

Yeah Man... are you ever right....

We secured the rate back around May 12, 13, give or take.  The loan had to be signed within 30 days. We just made it under the wire at June 10th. That's a Friday and the last day we could sign without extra....

That following week the interest rates were up a lot  from 5 weeks prior.

Will the floor be tilted a couple of inches so the water runs out?  I tilted mine 2" in 30 feet and another inch would have been better.

Absolutely.

Code requires it in the front portion where the vehicles will be parked but not the back because that's a shop space.

Likely they'll drop  1" to 2" towards each large door with a crown in the center.
