S416-8 325 #1 Posted June 18, 2022 Being new to Wheel Horse tractors and just starting to work with the plow on my 520, I started wondering what people consider as the toughest / meanest WH tractor available?

ebinmaine 67,588 #4 Posted June 18, 2022 I MAY be preferentially biased to a few years. Really the same basic tractor bones run from '73 to 85 or 86. Slightly different models.

(within the same time frame at least...) For example, I could pull the 17 hp engine from my c175 and install a 14 hp kohler and it would be a c145. Many many parts are interchangeable. rjg854 11,378 #19 Posted June 18, 2022 I think all 's are mighty tuff. True for pure power a C-160 is great, but those square hood 8hp's are good too. I've used them for snow plowing, blowing snow and mowing. They are very maneuverable, and sip fuel. So in their own right, they are a tuff tractor. You just can't go wrong with just about any . 7
ri702bill 8,327 #20 Posted June 18, 2022 And let us not forget the D series either - 900 plus pounds of tractor. Dad bought a 2 year old used D250 before he passed. It came with a 60 inch deck and a FEL - what an awesome 4 cylinder water cooled beast. Bill
Racinbob 11,088 #21 Posted June 18, 2022 (edited) Jeff is spot on as far as being basically the same tractor over the years. I could take the sheet metal off the 76 I purchased new off and do the same with the 2005 I purchased in 2009 and they are the same. But ya gotta ignore the wiring differences that came about to protect the innocent. Holds very true for attachment interchange as well. The 76 has the 42" deck that came with the 05 and the 70's 48" deck is on the 05 now. . Edited June 18, 2022 by Racinbob 4
c-series don 8,719 #22 Posted June 18, 2022 I like the simplicity of the C-series, the don’t have all that complicated wiring of the 3,4,and 500 series tractors. Here’s a few of mine. 5
