Toughest Wheel Horse ?

Recommended Posts

S416-8

Being new to Wheel Horse tractors and just starting to work with the plow on my 520, I started wondering what people consider as the toughest / meanest WH tractor available?

I MAY be preferentially biased to a few years.

Really the same basic tractor bones run from '73 to 85 or 86.

Slightly different models.

Hands down.

O' course I only have 4 to go by....

😂

Well… besides being a hoarder, ole @ebinmaine is known to stretch a bit… :hide: :ychain:

I’ll be an outlier on this no doubt, but I’m partial to the Black Hoods…

I think all :wh:'s are mighty tuff.  True for pure power a C-160 is great, but those square hood 8hp's are good too.  I've used them for snow plowing, blowing snow and mowing. They are very maneuverable, and sip fuel.  So in their own right, they are a tuff tractor.  You just can't go wrong with just about any :wh:.

And let us not forget the D series either - 900 plus pounds of tractor. Dad bought a 2 year old used D250 before he passed. It came with a 60 inch deck and a FEL - what an awesome 4 cylinder water cooled beast.
