GREAT LITTLE 108-R - ANY BAGGER IDEAS?

Recommended Posts

josephvigg

Grabbed this great little rider to save some mowing hours on my 312. Anyone have any experience or opinions that could be helpful? Ordered new filters, new plug, new spring, new muffler, new recoiler, and fresh oil couple hours of wrench time and she should be good for another 35 years!

Also would love to track down a bagger for this or is any one has and retrofit ideas!

@josephvigg worked for a guy on weekends , that had the snapper version of that , your upcoming basic maintenance baseline service will serve you well . would suggest that you regularly clean out the bottom of the deck , for grass build up /  rust corrosion . regularly counter that with an aerosol lubricant, that will soak into the metal , lightly fine file the blade , grease everything regularly . was pretty solid and reliable , no major problems. realize that bagger  will cause deck build up , due to reduced discharge flow / rate . would not use one , lubricate throttle and choke cables / linkage , SUPER LUBE OIL . small bottle . make a good around the edges trimmer . pete

@@josephvigg  https://www.amazon.com/Super-Lube-51004-Synthetic-Viscosity/dp/B000UKUHXK  use this on all my choke and throttle cables and related linkage points , usually available at local h/w store .  make the lube come out each end to verify lube soak , really works , pete

Peter - all great information thank you. I was considering the bagger to help with leaf clean up. Its an easy little rig to put the wife on and send off to work while I use the sweeper. Thank you again!

I love those little riders.  And recoil start is awesome.

Those things were meant to be stood up on those rear bars for storage or access to the deck.  That way they take up minimal floor space.  The electric start models had a hanging battery tray that kept the battery upright and the gas cap should have a sealing vent on it.  I assume the oil will stay in the engine and the gas won't leak out, but use your own judgement if you try it.

If you were in Illinois, I'd offer you up a trade for that cute little sucker.  i had one with a bagger years ago and still regret letting it go.

Fun little scooter!  Could you use the sweeper behind with an offset arm?

I just rebuilt my sweeper yesterday - i can definitely retrofit to pull it along and 8hp is plenty to pull the weight. As long as the pull start comes in on time she will be ready to this weekend

Not all of these were meant to be STORED upright. My Snapper specifies two hours of "up time" max. I would read the manual carefully!

Plus, be aware that you may need to leave it "down" for an while before trying to start it to let all the oil go back where it belongs. Mine (12.5 hp B&S IC Commercial) needs about 20 minutes.
