Docwheelhorse 2,660 #1 Posted June 14, 2022 Hello All, I have a C160-8 that ended up with a hydro drive pulley somewhere in its past or a complete 16 out of a hydro. Well... I have a C160 Hydro with a knocking wreck of a motor and decided to pull this engine out to put in the hydro and swap a Mag 16 into the C160 at a friend's request. He wanted a C160 but doesn't like the K versus the Mag. In the past I've swapped Mags into Bs but the exhaust / muffler is too big and hood wouldn't shut. It was a pleasant surprise to see a Mag fit like a glove into a C! I'll have to measure but it's almost obvious the C hood is taller than the B. The 416-8 donor tractor was / is completly beat... the 2nd interesting event was that all I did was connect a battery, jam the fuel line into a can of fresh fuel and tickle it with carb clean. It started and runs great... been sitting for YEARS See you at show!! Tony 20220614_111050.mp4 20220614_111050.mp4 2 10

Tony check the hood hinges carefully when you look at the sheet metal. Seems to me the 74/75 B with it's "mid length" frame used the same hood but different hinges. It would make sense that a C hood may set a bit higher but I wasn't aware of a height change. Is your C series receiving the engine originally a Tecumseh engine tractor? The one you brought up and the one I bought both have VERY tall hood hinges to help clear the overhead valve engine.

Here's a pic of tag... de-code it and let me know , I'll drill the rivets and bring to show if it's legit. Neither I nor my friend would care if the tag was gone

ebinmaine 67,589 #11 Posted June 15, 2022 I find it interesting that you'd get your hands on TWO of those Tecumsehorse as uncommon as they're claimed to be. 1

JoeM 7,874 #15 Posted June 15, 2022 I am pretty sure we raised the hood 3/4 on this c120 for the mag 10. Original was an HH120 Tecky Flat Head.

Isn't there someone doing reproductions of these tags that could bang you out one

That'd be neat. Any thoughts where to look?
