mort 24 #1 Posted June 14, 2022 I have made up spray paint to match my RV many times and they always give me a two step solution ( paint and clear coat). If I try to match a good part off my Wheel Horse can they make a spray paint in a one step solution like the 36110 or am I stuck with a 2 step solution? Also....................... Someone mentioned 72034 Wheel Horse Paint. What was the last year Wheel Horse used this paint? 1986? I know that 80311 is no longer available. What was the last year Wheel Horse used 80311? I know I can buy Toro 36110 What year did Toro start using this paint? 1990? Someone mentioned code PR4. What paint number above best matches PR4? rmaynard 15,509 #2 Posted June 14, 2022 72034 is not a Wheel Horse paint but a PPG automotive paint color. It is available as an acrylic urethane that is available in either a single stage (paint & activator must be mixed), or a 2-stage, base-coat, clear-coat. That code is also available as an acrylic enamel. 72034 is PPG's code for Wheel Horse red. I don't think Wheel Horse ever used PPG as a paint supplier. When is comes to paint, there are too many choices. However, if you decide to use an automotive paint like PPG, invest in good breathing equipment (respirator), and ventilation. All paints will damage your lungs, and paints with hardeners or activators can kill you, or make wish you were dead due to serious COPD side effects. 2 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Don't want to mix anything so an acrylic enamel will work great for me. Is this PPG 72034 code a pretty good match for a 1985 300/400 series or what is better? I gave the painter (for my sheet metal) a part off of my like new 1985 310-8 but I still need to paint the frame and fender brackets etc off my C160 and 520H. Depending on how it's cared for, painted sheet metal that sits in the sun will fade, Even under a decal, the paint will age and not be the same as it was when new. Rain, snow, and all kinds of weather, along with pollution from the air will change the color as well as washing and waxing. Get your painter to find a close match. Be sure to match it outside, in direct sunlight. I had a color that I thought was a perfect match. It looked great on the sample, and a test spot looked good. However, I never looked at it under direct sunlight until the whole tractor was painted. It looked orange. So to be a little more specific on the 72034 PPG, that color is not available across the whole spectrum of PPG paints. I've only found it in their Shop-Line and Omni lines. Acrylic Enamels also have to be mixed with a hardener. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
wallfish 17,011 #5 Posted June 14, 2022 Painting the frame and trans black looks good IMO because of the color contrast plus you don't need to try and match. Or maybe just get that same paint and brush it on. Those parts are not smooth to begin with and not the most obvious visible parts so a few brush strokes wouldn't really distract from the overall appearance IMO 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
