How do you mount a cowbell on a Wheel Horse

Recommended Posts

Been wondering what the best way is to mount a cowbell on a tractor.  After all, if you have a Wheel Horse, you can’t have enough cowbell.

An internet search only brought up one other instance of a cowbell in a tractor - so this project is almost unique.

Apparently the tractor in question has the bell because the (now deceased) owner installed one on any tractors he restored, or got running. It doesn't mention how many tractors he had, so there may be several others sporting bells around the country.

The installation in the picture is simple enough, but maybe it would have looked better on a higher curved over pole?

Took me a minute to find that bell!

I sure hope that was the starter crank and not a PTO. Having that bell swinging around would sure scare me.

My association with cowbells? During my very young years we lived in a very rural part of PA and we kids would roam far and wide in search of adventures (a terrific childhood). Mom rang a big cowbell from the back porch when it was time for us to head home for dinner. The sound carried for at least a half a mile! One of my sisters still has the bell.

Yeah, took me a couple extra glances to figure out where the bell was.   In my estimation it’s way too far away to beat it with a stick.  But, still interesting to know somebody else has had the same thought.  LOL

EB, the ball, or rather the bell, is in your court!

A lot of guys put a small bell on their motorcycles for luck. Some of our tractors could probably use one... @rmaynard comes to mind...:ychain:

Ha ha, other side of the world but my Mum used to do exactly the same thing with an old ships bell that Dad had acquired!

We would come streaming in from all directions as the sun slipped below the horizon to the tune of a bell.

You could have a hammer on a hinge attached to a string that leads back to the seat - more sophisticated than a stick :-)

I would never stoop to placement of a BLD (bovine location device) on a :wh:.

There’s enough identity and gender confusion in humans. Must we transfer that to our beloved Wheel Horses? :angry-tappingfoot:

What next? Green tractors in our garages? Oh the horror…!!! :scared-eek:

But, if I was forced to, I’d hang it on the mid mount so I could use my lift arm to bang it with the connector arm… :twocents-twocents:

:occasion-clown:

Just hang the bell on the cow's neck and turn her loose.
