Jose 11 #1 Posted June 8, 2022 Hi I’m just wondering if somebody can help me out with a confused topic on transmission oil.some say 10W-30 which in my opinion is a motor oil which probably would work obviously but would 20 W 50 be the best??

A 520H is a hydrostatic drive transmission. The hydraulic oil also lubricates the axles, 20w-50 is too thick for the system to work properly. The correct oil recommended by is 10w-30. Jose 11 #3 Posted June 8, 2022 Awesome great appreciate that one more question so 100% synthetic would be the best? Thank you
JoeM 7,874 #4 Posted June 8, 2022 This is what Eaton Calls for in their manual for oils. I prefer the antiwear oil like International HyTran. Matches the application for wear/shear additives. It is 10W30 viscosity. But keep in mind, 10w-30 motor oil has worked for years. 2

WHX?? 48,828 #7 Posted June 8, 2022 Some of the guys here report better cold weather operation with synthetic so that's what I run in my snow tractors. Not sure if it helps but can't hurt. 3
lynnmor 7,307 #8 Posted June 8, 2022 Any 10W-30 motor oil will be fine. I use Castrol semi-synthetic High Mileage oil and can tell a difference. 3
Ed Kennell 38,209 #10 Posted June 8, 2022 to the Jose. I use 10W30 semi synthetic in my three Eaton 1100 hydros and have never had a problem. Just a reminder, Eaton recommends a 5-10 minute warm up for the 1100s. Two of my lifts respond on start up and one requires a 10 minute warm up in the cold winter months.
