Fly fishing

Great times! I love to fly fish but never got into tying my own. We have the Smith River which flows from the Philpott Dam near us. It is stocked with brown, rainbow trout and a few brooks. The brown also raise in the river. Only issue is water release which raises the water level and makes wading dangerous at times. They have a schedule but can change it as needed. Great past time that is as relaxing as nearly anyting I have tried.

I think the 1st one is a white sucker.  2nd one is a Brook Trout.

I agree with Steve that the first fish is a sucker. They make great bait.

Don’t take those cool, rocky streams for granted.  Everything around here is muddy and disgusting.

If you’re going to wet wade, wear an old pair of tennis shoes.  No reason to stub a toe or come home in pain…or get pinched by a crawdad.

I went last night Kev! Right now the dry fly hatch is on and taking advantage of that. I landed two small trout right at the end of the trip just as it got dark. It is a great sport but can be frustrating when you cannot figure out what they are chasing.
