Also needed a sleeve to convert diameter to wheel horse standard. Note that with the Predator engines, you cant use the manual PTO. You have to use an electric PTO. 1

Even just for applications without PTO... the engine has to move over to the non-PTO side... Don

davem1111 2,030 #106 Posted June 20, 2022 (edited) @Snoopy11 asked me to post in this thread about the GT-1848 Work Horse I bought not long ago that had been repowered with a Honda GX610, so here ya go. Please don't direct your mirth at me when you see the pressure-treated 2x4's used to lift the engine to the proper (or at least, close to proper) height. I had nothing to do with that, and will be fabricating some metal mounts when I get a chance, probably a winter project. The engine seems to be a bit finicky but it may be either fuel supply or electrical. Engine runs great most of the time and drives a 48" deck nicely. Yeah, I want to replace the B&S screen side cover too, but the only thing I've found so far is a cover with a pull start. I guess that could come in handy though.... Edit to add: oh yeah, and I picked up an old twin muffler that I'm hoping the header flanges will fit - hoping to cut those off, put them on here and either put 2 stacks or a 2-into-1 and single stack on it, and repair or replace the hood that the fools cut into. Any thoughts on that? Edited June 20, 2022 by davem1111 4 1

Pullstart 62,905 #111 Posted June 21, 2022 You know @davem1111, plenty of stationary engines are mounted on wooden carts at shows and never receive flack… I’d see how long it lasts and use it as a talking point
giddyap 1,569 #112 Posted June 22, 2022 @Snoopy11Thanks for posting my checkerboard C-85 with the 301. This 8hp Predator required a completely different throttle control from the 212. And as you predicted I shared your experience, but I believe it is only a blown gasket since it was still running when I shut it off. For the obvious reasons I prefer the 212. It simply dropped in a 704 I used one winter to push snow and it did not disappoint.

littleredrider 409 #115 Posted August 7, 2022 I'll try to snap some pics, but I just sorta finished the HF 22 horse predator on a 520H. Wasn't too bad, put the motor in stock location so PTO lines up, also to use original belt/pully. Didn't modify anything, fits under stock hood, untouched belt guard. Just drilled some holes, (one lined up!!) adaptor for crank. and I believe 1" tubing to raise motor up. 2

littleredrider 409 #119 Posted August 8, 2022 Tried to get the pertinent shots to show any details. Still need to tidy things up a bit, but it runs and drives under it's own power. Pic of tires, dunno why the left looks bigger than the right, they are the same size, 24x12x12s on stock 8.5" wheels. Left is new, right is who knows how old, but they are the same size, it's sits level in the garage. Must be just an illusion, one being new n clean, the other, not so much lol. Over the past few years, manufacturers have "resized" many tires so that the labeling is now often only a passing nod toward the actual size. I'll bet if you measure them carefully you'll see they are, in fact, different.
littleredrider 409 #121 Posted August 10, 2022 That’s true. They carry that size at tractor supply, maybe grab a fresh one lol…

mhlmeader 689 #124 Posted August 23, 2022 Suburban with 4hp diesel. Used 1 1/2" wide x 1/4" thick steel stock to set engine on and bottom clamping bracket. Had to Redrill one side of frame, it had already been drilled out quit abit. Gas tank got in way of shifter, didn't have much room under hood, so I made a bracket to mount behind seat. 1
Evguy 556 #125 Posted September 1, 2022 Wheelhorse 314-8 with Onan Elite 140 First item was engine plate that was drilled for frame holes and raised with spacers for approximately 1 inch off frame. I needed to add a sleeve to go from 1 inch to 1 1/8 shaft size. I made a bushing to install a thrust bearing between pulley and engine. Engine face plate was made to support thrust bearing and mount PTO bracket. Engine holes tapped for engine face plate. Engine was aligned and bolted to new mounting plate. A relay was added to allow oil light to work, disabled low oil starter relay ( remove negative from relay plug) Wiring changes as needed. Cut exhaust pipe from cub cadet and installed 8N muffler. Shorter choke cable needed, used a old gt1800 cable. Still waiting on regulator and muffler clamp, but mowed a bit today and it works well.
