Drive belt came off engine pulley

Recommended Posts

While mowing the back yard I went from second to reverse and the tractor wouldn’t move.  Turns out that belt came off of the engine pulley, put it back on and went back to work. Anyone have that happen before?

Absolutely.

If I remember correctly it was because the belt, idler pulley, or both was worn.

My 1997 314-8 did that to me how I found out my idler pulley was bad. 350hrs on it.

Beat way to go.

I'd be prone to get an original equipment Wheelhorse belt because you have an 8 speed.

@nylyon, would also go over a detailed lubrication  related linkage verification , make the rust run out , my experience with sealed bearings is lube failure , if you are luckey enough to have  wide rubber side shields , clean out the " grease " and  use lucas  x-tra heavy duty chassis  grease , 560 deg , will not fail or whine . only an idea , greasy , pete
