Pullstart 62,905 #1 Posted June 3, 2022 (edited) Some people may call me crazy, but last year I bought one of the super rare 520-8 machines from @Sodaking27, in a herd from Maryland. Rylee and I drove 1300 miles round trip in two days, with the help of @phil bowling and his buddy Scott to pick them up. The 520 is an awesome machine, but I hadn’t gotten around to doing anything with it and it was kind of new for my collection. I didn’t want to get rid of it, but I’m starting to run out of room. As some of y’all saw yesterday, I made a trade with @Bow_Extreme Matt and he brought me this GT14 package. Having the Lever Steer, Senior, 953s and 1054s in the collection, I’ve been longing for a good running GT14 to round out my ideal big wheel collection. I know I missed a Super C, D, and maybe more, but I’m happy with this. This came with a @19richie66 aluminum gas tank, solid nose grille, inside wheel weights (that I picked up for Matt in Chicagoland a while back), three point hitch kit, tiller, extra hydro, mower deck (that I also traded to Matt a while back!) I tossed the belt once so far, popping the parking lever up too fast maybe? It’s in need of some love, but I’m looking forward to having a tiller/3 point tractor in the worker clan! I started today with working on the three point. I removed the rusty drawbar hitch and got the 3 point lower piece attached. It is bent, but won’t affect the tiller install. The top lift bar needs a weld job but I know a guy for that. I’ll have to make a point to address the small hydro leak and change the fluid/filter as well. Pullstart 62,905 #2 Posted June 3, 2022 @Bow_Extreme I tightened the packing nut on that fuel shut off and left it on all night. It fired up quick today and no leaks found! 1
squonk 41,150 #3 Posted June 3, 2022 I had a 69 GT-14 back about 10 years ago I think. No muffler but like a 2 foot stack with a flapper. I had my wife come out and look at it and I had it going "tink tink tink!" She says "YOU MADE ME COME OUT TO LOOK AT THAT?!!!"

I am considering flipping it up and giving it a little stack. Then again, I could leave it alone…
Pullstart 62,905 #6 Posted June 3, 2022 A trip to the hardware store and I’ve got some pins and hardware. The lift bar is in! Notice the angry beaver marks right atop the tow valve

Pullstart 62,905 #8 Posted June 3, 2022 With some help from the ole’ elbow grease department, the drive pulley is on! It’s about time to bring it over to the welder to fix the top link lift arm. I found that grade 8 bolts and lock nuts were much cheaper than 5/8” hitch pins too…

Bit rough around the edges and those black deposits on the filter are a dead giveaway.

Pullstart 62,905 #17 Posted June 4, 2022 Another monumental moment in the shop! After 2.5 years of using these monster rolls of “butt wipe” as I call it (sorry @SylvanLakeWH), I finally ran out of a roll! The kids get me one of these every year for Christmas and there’s another rolling around in the camper. First time opening a new shop roll since the start! 1
Pullstart 62,905 #18 Posted June 4, 2022 A new spring from ACE for the tensioner, I had to nip a bit of the end loop to slide onto the tiller bracket. I’ve got about 30 more minutes of light today. Will I need to use the headlights to till the garden? We’ll see!
Pullstart 62,905 #19 Posted June 4, 2022 The belt is super bound up on the back sheet metal of the tractor while the tiller rests on the floor. I feel like it might burn up, unless it’s in the dirt. Time to find out!

Pullstart 62,905 #24 Posted June 4, 2022 I tossed the drive belt for the second time. The parking brake / tensioner system is pretty sloppy and the belt is worn. But it worked! I mentioned the angry beaver hole earlier, I’m glad someone put it there to open the tow valve and stick it inside for the night! 1
Pullstart 62,905 #25 Posted June 4, 2022 I was even graced by momma and fawn the whole time. She’s not evident in the photo, but circled in red about 50-75 yard out, there they fed while I worked and even walked around! 2
