They have essentially designed a vehicle not dissimilar to an aeroplane tug that can take a container. We must still have stricter laws in Europe as most trucks are the cab over type, very rarely see a long nosed vehicle, although Scania produced a nice unit until the early 2000's (my favourite truck :-)) 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Most any older Pete Long-hood flat hood conventional. Started out in the mid 50s with the 281/351. Then 359.... 379. Also a huge fan of Mack R D models. oliver2-44 9,743 #5 Posted June 3, 2022 @ebinmaine Laxt mount on our RV trip through Oklahoma we drove I35 from Austin Tx past Oklahoma City and back. This is a major Semi freight route. Our RV is a 2029 Ford 4500 van chassis with a 27 ft class C RV cab over box, and it is like driving a box! I noticed an interesting aerodynamic action when a new style semi with the new styles low sloped nose pulling a box trailer passed me. As the cab nosed past me I could feel the air e e rope it was forming pushing me away sideways. Then when the open area between the cab an box passed me I was sucked back towards the truck. It was a quite noticeable effect. When that new style cab was pulling an open flatbed trailer. Trucks are just awesome machines, and yeah I agree it would be hard to pick a definitive favourite, but the Scania is a nice looking unit - probably looks a bit squished compared to your trucks, but in a sea of short nosed cabovers these ones stand out. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

EU has settled most of the length/width/height constraints for heavy cargo haulers and they are quite strict. I understand that at annual inspections the tractors must drive under a template without touching it. As you observed, the cab-over with only a narrow bunk sleeper behind are the most common to maximize trailer length. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
