Minneapolis Moline Diesel back not getting fuel.. Help?

Is anyone here diesel savvy? Anyone know a mobile mechanic? Or live close to me and want to get it running? We have a mid 1960’s Minneapolis Moline backhoe. It ran last year. It sat and now won’t start. I cleaned out all the lines leading up to the injection pump. Most of the lines had like a tar type substance. I have also cleaned out the fuel tank. I’m at the point where I need to get into the injection pump. I’ve never taken one of these apart. I’m sure I can I’m just reluctant. Any tips, tricks or help is appreciated.

Funny you should post this Tony.  I too have what we believe to be a MF-30 industrial tractor that started last year. Recently tried to start it but no go. Used to go with a quick shot of sniffing salts but not now. Manual says might be air in injector/pump but bled them per manual and looked to be good  fuel coming out  of bleed ports . Thinking injector timing or pump bad ? But how does it go bad just sitting

ther? 3 jug  Perkins diesel .... 84 or so vintage. 

Be interested in what those who know say. @Pullstart @Achto and others.

No kidding…that is funny that we both have similar issues. Ours used to start in any temperature and nearly instantly. I’ve been told there is a screen on the top of the injection pump. It’s “just” gel’d up. Clean it and should be good. Lol

sounds simple enough but…I haven’t done it.

I haven’t done a ton of diesel tractor service.  I have a diesel small engine that won’t fire on juice either.  I haven’t done a ton of true investigation yet.

Giterdone .... mine has a epoxy glued on oil heater on the pan that helps in cold but it has been in the 70s here so I doubt that's an issue. I used diesel treatment so doubt that's an issue too.

I tried to start it last weekend when it was around 90. I figured the same… we have conditioner in it and the hot temperature it should have started.

ok I’m working up to fix this thing. It won’t be tomorrow, TonyToro JR. is making me take him to buy a Disc harrow. I’ll try Friday. 
I still would rather someone just wave their magic wand over it and me hand some cash after it’s running.

Could be air locked between the bleeder and the injectors. Try cracking all the lines where they go into the injectors and bleed the fuel to that point.

Yes that’s what I was hoping for but I opened all of them and I have fuel on the return side but not feed side.

You might try disconnecting a line on the outlet side of the pump and the at the injector inlet. See if you can spray something like wd40 thru it to determine if the lines are gummed/gelled up. If the line is clear time to investigate the pump. I’m no expert but I pulled the injector pump on my old Oliver several years ago and replaced the front pump seal. I have a manual and it was actually simple to keep pump timed.

Awesome! I’ll give that a try tonight. Im going to dive into it since I’ve called 9 repair guys in the past 2 weeks and no one calls back. 
I guess I’ll have to see what I can do. Can’t break it any more I guess. I think I found the replacement injection pump if it doesn’t end up working.

Before you buy a new one $$$. There should be some shops that specialize in repair/rebuilding injector pumps.  I searched your area and found Metro Fuel Injection.
