Kitchen remodel

Randy, you are a brave man!

My wife and I considered remodeling and adding on to our old house about ten years ago but it was much easier and about the same cost to build a new house on our property. The old house was great but the spiral staircase and second story bathroom were likely to be a problem in the future, we are 77 and not getting any younger.

Great job so far! Did you upgrade your electrical too? When I did my kitchen over in 1985, we went from 3 circuits to 5. The refrigerator is on its own 20 amp circuit, the countertop plugs are split between 3 20 amp GFCI's, and the lights are on a 15 amp circuit. No issues.

Looks like you picked up more storage. No dishwasher?? I take it the stove and microwave go at the far right - better use of the light from the window.

Of course I had to upgrade the electrical service for the kitchen, I went from two circuits to five circuits two of which are GFI on either side of the kitchen sink and split the outlets for the countertops. The cabinets are white washed ash and that sure did help brighten the room up. I didn't want to get into any of this interior remodeling until after I  retired because it takes so long to do it while you're trying to live there and work at the same time there's just not enough time in the evening and on weekends to get things done in an orderly fashion. Today I've got a real nice day I can do the trim.

Trim is done. All that's left now is to mount the microwave, put in the stove, hook up the kitchen sink. And it's a kitchen.
