Wilsonrl48747 0 #1 Posted July 4, 2009 Hello there. I have a C120 with the 12 horse Kohler and was wondering about oil type to use. The manual says 10W 30, but I wanted to know if anyone was using straight weight oil or heavier oil to keep the older engine happy. I don't work my tractor to death, basically mowing 5/8thacre and some plowing/snowblowing in the winter. A guy I used to work with said its better to have the straight weight oil without all the cleansers etc which makes sense, and I used that on an old crummy sears tractor I had cuz I didn't care much about it. But I love my WH and want to keep it around as long as possible. What is the best thing to use? Thanks much
Jim_M 178 #2 Posted July 4, 2009 I use Shell Rotella T straight 30W in all of my small engines in the summer and Rotella 10W30 in the winter, never had a problem. I think 10W30 is recomended for temperatures below 32 degrees and would be too light for summer use.
