Brockport Bill 1,714 #1 Posted May 8, 2022 would someone be able to please confirm the transmission for c165 --- #01-16kS01-5576 -- i thought the S was an 8 but apprently not? i checked the manuals here but still not certain if it lists as Sunstrand or Eaton? thanks
stevasaurus 22,856 #2 Posted May 8, 2022 Appears to be a Sundstrand 90-1173...1980.
stevasaurus 22,856 #3 Posted May 8, 2022 Looking at the list farther, it appears that "no letter" after the "K" would be an 8 speed. So...assuming the "S" is Sunstrand., the "E" is for Eaton. A "P" would be Peerless. The "K" might be for Kohler?? "B" is for Briggs, "O" is for Onan, "E" is for Electric.

Bill D 1,932 #8 Posted May 9, 2022 Oil for the 8 speed transmission will be 80W-90. Available at any auto parts store for about $10 a quart. The transmission holds two quarts. 1

stevasaurus 22,856 #11 Posted May 9, 2022 Here is the deal. We have a typo mistake somewhere. The 01-16K801 is a 1980 C-165. The transmissions are in question. One source shows 103918, the other shows the 103916. After looking at a bunch IPL's, I am going to call it #103916...an 8 speed, 8 pinion with 1 1/8" axles. Use 90wt gear oil, 2 qts in a new transmission. After looking some more...I find the #103918 is the transmission that is used in the 8 speed Electric models...E-141
