Horse 417-A

Recommended Posts

Looking at an ad for a 417-A but the guy is wrong of course on year..he's got it at 1988..anyway..did the 417-A always run the series II Kohler or is it a possible series I as he has no idea and can't tell me if it even has an oil filter?

He's not had it long and is trying to just flip it with a blower on it..

I thought by mid 80's Kohler already had the series II out and those were used..he's over 140 miles away and don't want to make a trip for nothing.

Certainly should be a series 2 but anything could have happened since 1986.

IMHO... If the seller doesn't even have the capability to see and advise on the oil filter I'd avoid that tractor unless the price is VERY reasonable.

It is series II.. He's selling with a blower for $1495.00..With a blade also for additional $200.00..I'm thinking $1300.00 for all 3..no deck with it..what's your thoughts?

Hard to really say without good pics.

The Michigan contingent should chime in.

@Pullstart call ya locals will ya?

What kind of snowblower?

Size of plow?

ACTUAL condition of tractor?

ANYTHING it needs?

That's premium pricing and it should be a premium tractor.

I certainly agree with that - especially with the vague comments from the seller....

Where about s are you located, or where is 140 miles away?  My buddy is liquidating some of his father’s Horses and I’ll be going over this weekend or next to help him dig it all out.  He just got a 520H and needs to get rid of his older machines for some reason.  I can keep you in mind, unless this 417 is something you’re set on.

The tractor is in actual nice condition..not show..but real clean...has 905 hours on a series II..blower and blade are kept in nice condition..not really rusty at all..and the blade is 48"

The blower is a tall shute blower. Also had wheel weights on it..no deck tho..

There have been a couple of 417s for sale over the last year or so that keep coming back up for sale in a different spot usually at a markup from the previous posting. Even at 1300 it would have to be really nice. Snowblower can be had for about 300 blade for 150 that puts you at 850 for almost 40 years old tractor. Be careful remember pretty is what pretty can do.

I don't think any of the 417, or 418s had an oil filter. I added one to mine and it's nearly impossible to get to with engine on the tractor.
