Handy Don 12,235 #26 Posted May 7, 2022 Not to hinder the commentary, but I'll inject that since I became a Rain-X user, I've been replacing blades far less often. Less friction on the window and if there is a decent rain falling and I'm at 45 mph or more, the water just rolls off and the wipers stay parked. It does help that my vehicles are garaged so they have much less exposure to weather.
squonk 41,150 #27 Posted May 7, 2022 I use the Rain X washer fluid. Water just sheets right off.

I didn't do any empirical testing, but when I was using the Rain-X I felt as though I was replacing them MORE often. Like the Rain-X chemical was attacking the rubber or something. Yesterday I had to drive in that heavy rain with the 100% humidity, the windshield wouldn’t stay clear no matter what button was pushed. Opening windows a crack helped but the rain was too much to even open a bit. So yes, it was an inside wiper day, towels were needed.
rjg854 11,378 #34 Posted May 8, 2022 I use the Rain-X washer fluid, hardly ever use wiper blades other than the initial cleaning of the windshield, or traveling at lower speeds and very light rain. Other than that the rain just rolls right off. I find wiper blades swinging back and forth kind of annoying, as they squeak and bang.
