TJ5208 1,824 #1 Posted May 3, 2022 How would I fix this cable to be able to be used as the rear lift cable. Neither ends have anything to mount to.
953 nut 55,120 #2 Posted May 3, 2022 Best bet would be to contact Lowell @wheelhorseman. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product-category/cables/

953 nut 55,120 #4 Posted May 3, 2022 Not saying it can't be done but if you don't already own the crimpers to make up the loops at the cable ends it will cost more that buying one from Lowell that will actually fit properly.

Handy Don 12,174 #9 Posted May 4, 2022 It is definitely possible to fab up a lift cable but you have two constraints that make it pretty challenging. First, there is not a lot of room for freedom of movement where it attaches to the rock shaft in the middle of the tractor. That's why the pre-made cables use a clevis and a crimped-on termination. Second, having the length be slightly adjustable to be sure you get the proper motion of the rear rock shaft. That's why the pre-made cables end in a crimped-on threaded rod to hold a trunnion. Crimping cables like that requires an appropriate die and a serious multi-ton press--it just cannot be done in a way that yields safe results using hand tools. Go look at Lowell's website (see the vendor page under classifieds) to see what they look like.
Jayzauto 89 #10 Posted May 5, 2022 T J, I’d also recommend at least Looking at the cable that Lowell sells. I have the correct cable as well as crimpers, but could not find the threaded end. There’s not a lot of room for error. I gave up and bought one myself. Saved a log of grief. And even with the correct cable, it’s a delicate balance between ground clearance while traveling and depth of tilling. GLuck, Jay 1
Bill Winn 156 #11 Posted June 21, 2022 A word of caution: a non-coated cable (no vinyl) will saw a hole in the tube through which it passes
