I'd guess that parts tractor is a 417 or 418 by the engine plate. That plate is also worth something to the right person. Kohler twin plate is wider to the left than a briggs or an onan plate.

I didn't think you'd travel that far for parts like this    But I guess it would be a pretty easy shot down the Interstate for you.  I may miss out on this, because I'm going to be traveling a bit. Told him I'd check in when I got back.

BTW, IF that was once a 418C, you would have scored 2 for 2 on the rare, and somewhat desirable high geared version of the eaton. If that's the case, I'd Buy a lottery ticket too.

I’m lucky enough to have one of those 418-C’S you speak of, bought it from the original owner about a year ago. Approximately 700 hrs on the clock.

I've already been in contact with the guy - he said it's part of an estate sale for his dad and he doesn't know any more about it but will be looking tomorrow to see if he can get a model number or S/N.  Obviously that only works if it's on the frame or rear fender - isn't that where most of them are found?

FYI, the guy said he can't find any evidence of a model number on this.  I've decided to relinquish my place "in line" to buy this. He said he's had other interested parties and wants to get rid of it - it would be mid-June before I could get there and I think I'm going to buy the B-100 that's near where I live.  Or maybe not.  Or maybe I'll just flip it with a little work. I dunno.  Plenty of projects already....

Yeah, I think that's the problem here.  If I thought there was a good chance that Eaton 1100 was still good, it would still be worth picking up, but I'm thinking maybe that's why the engine is gone - trans stopped working. If it were closer to home I'd still grab it but it's probably not worth the trouble to me.

I was just wondering about the GT1800 and HC rear axle. I'd heard the same a couple other places. 

 

What do we know as fact about the GT1800 having the (quite a bit faster) Commercial gear set?

 

Is there a pamphlet?

Code numbers?

This is the first I’ve heard about the gear ratio being the same for a GT-1800 as a 520-HC. I don’t have a 520-HC, however I do have a 418-C which has the same transmission as the HC. I also have a GT-1800, does this mean I should have a race? Since I can’t drive both at once I’m going to need help, anyone available?😂
