Ifixoldjunk 778 #1 Posted April 28, 2022 so here’s my latest thorn in my side, a 1971 stihl 020 AVP. It has a 1/4 bar and chain. The chain is shot, it’ll need a new chain for starters. the issue is that according to every stihl rep I’ve talked to, there are zero modern day bars or chains available for this model saw. would anyone know of any options I have for this saw? I tried changing it to a 3/8 sprocket but that failed to engage the oiler. I really don’t care if I end up with a Chinese bar, I’d just like to be able to cut with it.

Ifixoldjunk 778 #4 Posted May 6, 2022 So as it turns out, the stihl MS150T has the same pitch chain, so I bought a bar and chain for that saw, and it ended up fitting perfectly on 020AVP. This little saw absolutely rips now. Hacked some nuisance limbs of some trees and it’ll eat though 5 to 8in limbs like butter. i’m pleasantly surprised with it. Being a “1/4 micro chain” I wouldn’t of guessed it would cut as fast as it does.
