lae51967 14 #1 Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) I'm considering buying a 71 Bronco 14 thats an hour away from me so I've only seen pictures so far. Never had a Bronco before. I currently have a C160 8 speed and C series attachments. My main objective is to utilize the bronco's hydraulics to lift my single stage snow blower since the old arm grows wearier each year on the manual lift. Hoping some have experience with the two models to give me a heads up on what I would need to do. I came across a post where modifications were done to a Raider or possibly a Bronco (photo) but can't remember model for sure. I assume I'll need to do something similiar if not identical. The Bronco comes with a type of mule drive I'm not familar with (2 photos) Thanks for any help you guys can give me. lae51967 14 #3 Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) Thanks for the information. I have a line on a set of Tach-a-matic middle brackets and mule bracket. I'll get those and make the same modifications if I can work out a deal on the Bronco. I was pretty sure it would work but just needed a boost of confidence. This will be my first hydro unit, any body have any other tips or tricks on the Bronco in general or things to watch for? Much appreciated. kpinnc 12,083 #4 Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) Broncos are great machines, and the C series are just newer evolutions of the same. If you get the belly and mule drive hitches swapped, you basically have a C-140 Auto. Only other major difference is the Bronco should have limited slip on the differential. They originally came with electric PTO clutches, though few still work. Switching to manual clutch is simple. Mine was modified to use a 3-point, but you can see how nice they can turn out. Ed Kennell 38,209 #6 Posted April 21, 2022 If the Bronco has the mule drive as shown in your second picture, you won't need anything to use a deck from a "C" series. That was the first generation front mule drive and IMO the best as the return idler was spring loaded and maintained a constant belt tension. The down side is the lack of the quicker front attach-a-matic for switching from deck to blower. Some of the short chute blowers did not come with the attach-a-matic mount. There is a part number for the whole thing, but it's unlikely you'll see one complete. You'll need the engagement rod, the support bracket, pivot that mounts to the block, and the manual PTO bell and pulley. Sounds like alot, but it isnt. The 3 point was a pretty big build. Most of the components came from a D series. Everything else was fabricated. I had to replace the box under the seat with one made of 1/4 inch plate to provide supports for the pivot.
