Belt tensioner problems

Recommended Posts

JimSraj

This is the T 1267 tractor that I got last summer with a broken rod. I really only wanted parts from the deck mounting to use on a 1969 GT14 I was working on but the P.O. would not separate. The price was reasonable so I ended up with another tractor.  After I got looking this one over I thought it was a pretty good looking tractor and just needed a good motor. So I decided to try a rebuild. I had never done this before but I figured if I can follow directions I should be able. Anyway it’s done and running well.

Now I’m Trying to get the RL486 mowing deck back on it and can’t seem to get the belt tensioner on the deck lift shaft and on the part that swings from the tractor frame and goes through the hole in the top of the 6725 part of the tensioner assembly. As far as I can tell the deck and mounting parts on the GT 14 and this one are the same.

I wanted to include a video but 12.27 MB limit won’t allow it.

Any help confirming the tractor model and year and/or tensioner issue will be greatly appreciated.

Post your video to youtube then add a link to your post.

Whoa, thanks for the suggestion but I don’t have a you tube account and I’m not that tech savvy. Guess I’ll try a few photos instead.

I’ve taken a few pictures to show the tractor as well as the problem I am having getting the pivot arm and the cam arm installed. Picture shows the pivot arm on the lift assembly shaft. But, as I hope is obvious, the cam arm end is stuck under the pedal shaft. I can get either one where it belongs but not both. What am I missing?

Also, I’m still not sure what year and model this tractor is. Is it just a T1267. Or is it a Raider 12 as the PO told me?

The pictures in this manual are not too good but perhaps @pfrederi or someone else with this type of mower drive can provide som better pictures.

@JimSraj  agree with  @953 nut  on that functional video posting , if nothing else , start making the rust run out of all of those , pivotal , wheel rolling contact areas , with a lubricant extension tube to detail its contact . having brought back a number of neglected  attachments, attempted movement and lubrication ,always gave me a start to function , pete

It Looks like the problem may be solved. Thanks 953nut for the mower manual. I was trying to get the cam arm assembly to mount to a hole in the frame as it is on my GT14. On this tractor it goes on the foot pedal shaft. It’s on now and everything looks good. Belt is on and ready for a trial run tomorrow. 🤞spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

Can anyone I’d this tractor for year and model?  PO said he thought it is a 1967 Raider 12 but he wasn’t sure.

You have a Model 1267,   Twelve HP;   six speed;    built in 1967.    That was the general method og coming up with model numbers in the '60s.

Thanks again for all the helpful advice. Trail run went well but I think I may need to replace some spindle seals and bearings. Grease showing above the cup at the bottom.

Anyone suggest a source for them?
