Farmall cub 1957 69 #1 Posted April 21, 2022 Hey I was just wondering on how to replace the transmission gasket. When you pull it apart do the gears and other components have to come off. Mine is leaking badly and will need replaced for the restoration on it.
rmaynard 15,509 #2 Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) Look at @stevasaurus videos in the Transmission section. It explains how to properly open a transmission. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/84224-8-speed-5091-manual-wh-transmission/ Edited April 21, 2022 by rmaynard
daveoman1966 3,752 #3 Posted April 21, 2022 Before tearin g it down, did you try to re-tighten the 5 or 6 bolts holding it together... Worth a try.
Maxwell-8 4,277 #4 Posted April 21, 2022 Hubs will have to come off, shift fork ( not the Hi-low shifter) and brake drum as well. Now put the part with the input pulley down, and the one where the brake drum was on, up. unbolt those 6 bolts and pry her open. All the gears stay seated nicely in the lower part, I always find so much gunk and rust in these transmissions worth it to me to open them up and get all that gunk out. 1
