Evguy 556 #1 Posted April 19, 2022 Something different, neighbor was trashing a jd mower with blown engine. During Covid downtime I put this together to move trailers etc. Other than pulley and belt, I had the parts in the shop. 3
SylvanLakeWH 25,577 #2 Posted April 19, 2022 Very cool! How about some more details…? Motor type. Voltage. Battery type. Connecting motor to frame system…

Connecting motor to frame system… The motor was salvaged from a powered pallet jack, had it for a decade, I machined the gear off the shaft and fitted a pulley. the voltage for motor was 12v but I increased it to 16 to get enough rpm. batteries are lithium 3.5 volt. I simply made a aluminum plate to widen surface area and fit motor and batteries to the frame. It is inefficient due to motor, but has a lot of torque with hydraulic drive, enough to roll a tire off rim while pulling a trailer. I probably get 1/2 hour running time. 1

'bout how long do those batteries last? I just had to get some for my EZ-go... (that thing will last... going full throttle... forever and a day)... Not something I'd have a need to build right away but the technology and the work behind it is pretty fascinating. If you start a build thread please do feel free to give my name a mention so I get called into it...

Biggest problem I forsee... is cost of replacing those batteries over their... relatively short lifespan. In 10 years... you may look back and wonder if it was worth it... I’m using some used batteries, so not sure on range

It takes 50 minutes with 60 inch ztr , but WH cut is smaller and it’s slower.

No, seriously, I would imagine, the more load (i.e. taller grass, thicker grass) it would not last as long. BUT... GOSH you would look cool out there for however long it lasted on a John Deere garden tractor... mowing... in SILENCE... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Don

It won’t be silent, hydraulics and deck are pretty loud 😆 1
8ntruck 7,007 #18 Posted April 20, 2022 (edited) What sort of temperature control are you using on the lithium batteries - if any? Edited April 20, 2022 by 8ntruck
