Correct hydro filter for GT14

Recommended Posts

Dave 1953

I failed to mention the Fram, Wix, Napa p/n for the right hydro filter for the GT14.. Probably the same one that goes on all my older Cub Cadet hydros but I want to make sure while I'm changing everything out and about how much fluid is required with a change with all new hoses and filter. Thanks in advance.

Your transmission uses the WIX 51410 or NAPA 1410 filter and you will need a gallon of fluid.

Maybe a even tad more.

Some of the purists like to use the original 5990 filter which are widely available but cashy. No idea who makes them ....Stens?

Makes little sense to insist on the Toro filter unless your already at a dealer getting other stuff. My Toro dealer (now closed) wouldn't even stock them. He got them from me when I worked at Napa. :)  (pictures of Toro filter cut open in this thread.) :banana-dance:

A little black matte spray paint on the napa filter and you got the best of both worlds. :D

I will just stick with the Wix or Napa, both available in my little town.I like to keep stuff that you see as close as possible to original. Now if it was going across the block at Barrett Jackson and they were switching to the underside cam as it was being driven up on the block and showing the whole world what the bottom looked like maybe I might go with a repopped original type.:) Shoot, I don't even use a repopped Mopar oil filter on my '70 Coronet R/T that's pictured on my post, I use a Fram because it looks good next to the orange engine and exterior orange paint.
