While you have a bit of time before it is finished - you may want to check the four Unidrive shaft seals for leaks and replace if needed. Take a look at the frame plate - inspect the plate at the four mounting holes of the Unidrive for signs of cracks. I hope it is not like this 854 frame. As ugly as is is, it is still fixable ... Jennifer 1,877 #13 Posted April 18, 2022 Engine is off the tractor! Cylinder has to be honed.. has new piston rings now so when it’s honed it will be put back together! Oil pan gasket was off on that corner but is all cleaned up! 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

We made sure to clean all the surfaces put new gaskets around the cylinder piston fits nicely! Slow and steady!! Bill @ri702bill checked on this part and this one luckily isn’t broken or cracked!! I believe the on seal does leak! Added picture is this what your speaking of? Just last week I got a hand repairing the frame on my 854. Jennifer 1,877 #21 Posted May 12, 2022 (edited) OK it’s been a while since we’ve done anything on the 854 waiting for the switch to come in the mail it wasn’t supposed to take over 30 days but we bought it on the 4-10 today is the 5-12 …. 😢. I told the husband to take the switch out of his 854 to try it but he refuses to afraid he’ll screw something up and then be down a tractor! 😝. Wanted to show and give credit to Dell Jones good friend of ours for telling us how to remove old pipe from the engine block! What my husband did was cut it flash then run zaw zaw blade in cut one side then took a chisel and crushed it in and turned it out! It works really well, quite smoothly and saves the threads then he was able to put the new pipe for the stack! Do have a couple questions because he refuses to take anything off of his 854. What size key is for the transmission? Picture attached! Also what size are the screws that go in the side of the carburetor? Picture attached. Thanks in advance! That transmission keyway looks kinda worn and "oversized" to me, some of the experts may have a suggestion or three. Lucky you! On my carb, those bosses were stripped out/cracked and I had to reinforce them with JB Weld and then carefully drill out and re-tap. I have no idea what the originals were, sorry. Nice work on the exhaust pipe extraction. I have three of them and no issues doing what Jen did and not needing any support. On that input shaft keyway something does look amiss and like Don says too big or wallowed? Food for thought Jen on that leaking capped bearing it could be just weeping by but could also indicate a bad bearing. Keep an ear on the noise and functioning of the tranny.
