My 8/4 is pretty much vertical, while yours seems to be angled more like the B-80. Seems long, too. And my original front wheels were 6 inch. I’ve read WH would use up old components between model years. Maybe this is a factory frankenstein machine? I believe you are correct. For sure the 8hp 4-speed had 6” up front and 10” in back. As far as the hood, I think you are correct as well. I have both machines and the no names didn’t have any rake and was a bit shorter than the B-80 hood.

I put some 23s on it and it sits perfect right now. I have seen 2 other no name 8s with the 8 speed and they both had 8inch fronts and 22.5 inch rears. There are quite a few things that make this tractor unique. It’s definitely not a rebadged b-80. I believe this is just a fairly uncommon tractor since the sales brochure has the 8hp 8 speed at slightly less money then the no name 10 8 speed.. 1

I'd say you're right about it being a lower production unit. I hadn't heard of one until yours here. Makes sense it would be a little less expensive. It may be that Wheelhorse was trying to be somewhat price competitive by using the smaller wheels and engine.

I think it’s was probably just the step between the super tiny 8hp 4 speed and the regular sized 10hp 8 speed.. doubt many people bought them.
