Barn find no name 8 8speed

Well that's a new one to me.

I've heard of dealers installing 8 speeds in 4 speed tractors to satisfy a customer but never seen one stickered like that.

VERY interesting.

Looks like a replacement engine.

What's the plan for it?

Clean it up and throw my mid mount blade on it.

Ben does this one have extended axels. This one I had. It had small tiers and five bolt rims? Not sure this was the original set up. Never under stood this. The last is how this came to me. 1613362552_thenext2ofthe1973noname8.jpg.65d772cc2279e6a5aaff61169eeccac7.jpg

8 spds are excellent for grader blade operations. :helmet:

Gary from what I understand the extended axle shafts are to bring the rear track width out to a compatible size with other tractors of the same vintage.

Anybody else thinking Ben is snooping every barn for many mile's radius from his house? :D

...If anyone is looking for me, I'll be out at my barn.

...installing new doors and locks! :P

Seriously- another nice find there Ben!

OK Eric it just seemed cheap set up to me. With Vertical shaft tiers on it and hub. You cannot properly put a standard rim on there for heavy work. I guess it made a great mower.

Could you change to the five-star hubs?

Eric, standard 12” and 8” rims work just fine on the no name .

@ebinmaine Like Eric said, I don’t think I’ve seen an 8-8 speed. 8-4 speed yes but not an 8-8 speed. Congratulations on your find!

Could you post a side shot so the rake of the front end can be seen?  My 8/4 is pretty much vertical, while yours seems to be angled more like the B-80.  Seems long, too.  And my original front wheels were 6 inch.  I’ve read WH would use up old components between model years.  Maybe this is a factory frankenstein machine?
