peter lena 8,720 #3 Posted April 11, 2022 @Wheelhorse#1 did a little snoopin on that bearing , looks like # 4567 bearing is it , also noticed that the bearing has wide rubber side shields , easy to remove with a pocket screwdriver , thats what I do on all my bearings , carefully wipe out original unknown specification grease , use carb cleaner to finish cleaning , use lucas x-tra heavy duty , hi temp , anti sling polyurea grease , wallmart $ 7 , repack. reinstall seals. your bearings will not whine with noise or fail from heat . done this on my 3 mule drives , and all my deck spindle bearings . solid smooth / quiet running decks , just an idea . pete
peter lena 8,720 #4 Posted April 11, 2022 @Achto , @oldlineman ,@ ri702bill, know it seams foolish to repack a new bearing , but if you can't be sure of the lubrication , and it gets noisy , whinny , and fails early . broke down this common problem , make sure bearings have wide rubber side shields , carefully remove both of them , clean out and repack , with the good stuff , reseal . having just put my decks back on , really spin up with ease and no noise , pto lever engagement is easy , smooth , quiet . just getting rid of a chronic problem , my underdeck lubrication , over winter , is a black stained zero rust , decks. just me , greasy pete
peter lena 8,720 #5 Posted April 11, 2022 @Achto , always experiment , improve , and verify my ideas , more often than not , just an area that could / should operate better. scary to many , often simple improvements to function , goes from stiff sloppy to smooth / easy , effortless. choke and throttle cables , and related linkage , ignition , chassis grounding , clutch linkage firm up , pto lever play . regular check overs , fuel check valve , just before carb , some of the stuff that , used to be a problem , now they all work every time , if it works for me , maybe it could help you . my c85 / magnum is coming up on 40 years ! maybe a cake and a picture , pete
squonk 41,320 #6 Posted April 11, 2022 Mule drive bearings are 2 different sizes. Flat pulley uses 6203-12-2RS 1.57" O.D .46 " width .75" I.D. V pulley uses 1630-2RLD-C3 1.62" O.D .49" width .75" I.D
