This floppy drive came in one of the old desktops  from e-waste.

MS-DOS 3.3 actually has a built in text editor called EDLIN, but it is so crude that no one uses it.

DOS

I've actually still got a functioning IBM XT Clone machine.  256 K of Ram, 40 Mbyte HD, two 5.25 floppy ports, Amber "Hercules" graphics.  IIRC it has an 8 MHz processor.

And... still got several versions of DOS and many programs on floppy discs in those old flip top disc storage boxes.

Yeah buddy... those were the days.

I was just a kid when we had a floppy drive on our Commodore 64.  Space Invaders was what we argued over, if I recall.

Space Invaders

Was my favorite game back in the day.  On the Atari 2600 though.  I got a million points and sent a photo of the screen to Atari.  They sent me a Space Invaders key fob.  It's still on my key ring to this day!

That was back when they knew how to make a durable, long lasting key fob!  These key fobs today, I tell ya…
