ebinmaine 67,320 #1 Posted April 5, 2022 Now for the record this was attached to a 1974 C160. The front tires would turn but the plow could not be angled. Clearly it resembles a "Short frame" plow. There are several small differences that just don't set right with me. The mechanism to change the angle is ... Different. Whatizit?? Is it older than I'm used to? Is it not a WH plow?

Handy Don 12,174 #4 Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) Well, that sure fooled me. The blade and springs looked WH but the rest.... Looking at the IPL, can see that the rear has a long cross rod instead of separate bolts. Maybe to fit it to a newer rear transaxle plow mount set to open frontward? But at least clear why it was rubbing the front wheels on a long frame! Edited April 6, 2022 by Handy Don
ebinmaine 67,320 #5 Posted April 6, 2022 @gwest_ca Gary any thoughts on whether it could be used on a short frame tractor in the mid 60s?
Handy Don 12,174 #6 Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) On the compatibility list, it maps to the short frames at least through the '65 except the 953 and 1054s Edited April 6, 2022 by Handy Don 1

Might have to try it....

Three issues I can see: -- the original design had the rear mount bolted directly to clamps on the rear axle. Using a newer style plow bracket might require futzing around. -- the plow rotate mechanism is missing -- skids are missing
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,036 #9 Posted April 6, 2022 Should fit as long as you use the appropriate rear axle hitch that came with these. It mounts in front of the axle housing instead of below it like the later years.

That's an interesting coincidence because I already use a modern version of the older more forward mounts so we can use a trailer hitch. 7 hours ago, Handy Don said: -- the original design had the rear mount bolted directly to clamps on the rear axle. See above quote. 7 hours ago, Handy Don said: -- the plow rotate mechanism is missing Thinking I could make one...?? 7 hours ago, Handy Don said: -- skids are missing That's no problem either. We have a set of ATV skids.
