trans timing

Recommended Posts

857lover

i have my transmission apart and i changed the bearing and now my buddy @danweikert21 is telling me that there are timing marks that should line up on the differential bull gear and the big gear in the middle but i don’t think that’s the case and i’m not sure what to do because i don’t want to put it together wrong and it’s a six speed trans

I'm impressed that he thought of the idea! He gets points.

You get points for cross-checking.

Aviation units in the military often send new techs looking for spools of flight line, buckets of rotor wash, and chem light batteries. Shocking how many fall for it.

Was your buddy in the military? He seems to think like a vet...

First full-time job I ever had was at a pallet factory.

A buddy of mine and I applied and were hired within a couple days of each other.

I had messed around with bicycles some and done minor car repairs by then but he had no real world mechanical experience or aptitude.

He came about half jogging by one day and asked if I had seen a particular tool and to be honest it didn't even absorb until later....

The boss had him going around asking everybody and their mother's mother's Uncle if they had seen the Board Stretcher.

Not. One. Person. Told him anything.

On my last trip to Italy I looked at metric crescents--but they were kinda pricey.

You need to be careful when selecting wrenches, so that they will handle both SAE and metric.

The real question here, ladies and gents... is whether @danweikert21 actually BELIEVED that there were timing marks... :laughing-rolling:

We may never know... BUT... notice... post 3 occurs AFTER post 2... @ebinmaine... :P

:hilarious:

Don't forget... your tires also have timing marks when you put them back on the hubs... @857lover :teasing-poke:

Every good sheet metal mechanic has a pipe stretcher and a duct stretcher on his truck… problem is a new apprentice can’t ever find them…

Displacement is fairly easy.

Ever'body knows displacement is increased by a quotient of roughly 3 to 1 for every vertical inch of rear wing height.

See now clearly. This vehicle has at LEAST a 700 cube POWERPLANT and has far exceeded even so much as the understanding of anyone. At all. Ever.

@lynnmor That’s just for metric use! Don’t use it on anything standard!😂
