I saw an old V4 engine (Wisconsin?) a few years ago that I thought would look pretty awesome on a garden tractor.

I missed one a while back my self on a farm pump. Before I knew I could get it, it burned up in a shed fire. 😢

The SBC powered Case tractor pictured was very impressive until I laid on the ground to see how the power was transmitted to the rear axle, What i saw was no bell housing cover and absolutely nothing connected to the rear of the crankshaft. Made me scratch my head. I then noticed the long hydraulic lines between the power steering pump and the hydraulic motor on the transaxle.

That's pretty clever, I like it! That being said I can't imagine that delivers much power to the axle?

Probably enough for driving around but not for serious pulling :confusion-confused:

I don't know enough about hydraulics to give an answer. I'd be curious to know the differences between the original hydro pump and the power steering pump being used.

Perhaps a higher output?

The best hydro that Wheel Horse used is the Eaton 1100, it has a maximum input rating of 20 HP, of course the output would be somewhat less.  A power steering unit is about half that.  The tractor in question is all ranch, no horses.

That ìs a nice expression

It does however make the build a bit pointless IMHO.. if I was to go through the trouble of building a cool tractor like that I would want it to pull ATLEAST as much as the stock tractor :twocents-twocents:

A guy that I know built a GT with a flat head Ford engine. It's a hydro with a Case rear end.

Funny…The guy ask if he could rev it up again, he throttles it down and then shuts it down 😆🤷‍♂️
Cool machine !
