@TJ Salyers looks pretty good , thing I notice more than anything is the stage of the paint , easy to do , an aerosol lubricant spray down , every painted surface, just enough to hold the lubricant on the paint , hours later rub it down dry with a clean cloth , do that again in a couple of days , at that stage , a 6" electric palm buffer with cleaner wax , will make that paint pop thru , or you can leave it in the patina stage . done that on 2 horses , paint looks like new . realize you have other interests , if nothing else , oil spray it down to save patina, that can be soaking in while you start recovery .  pete

Sounds like the  hauller is lookin for gas money. . Sounds like dad is is a wise man too.  If the hauler was going to Portland anyway a Franklin wouldn't be out of line tho.

Don't know exactly where the tractor is in Missouri. Picking a point in central Missouri to Portland Indiana that would be around 450 miles.  At this distance if you picked it up yourself at 900 miles round trip, assuming that your dads truck averages 16mpg pulling a trailer and fuel at around $5 per gal, this trip would cost you around $280 in fuel alone.

Raiders are not that uncommon and you live in the state wear they were built. Are you sure you can't wait until you find something closer to home??

My dads truck makes 22 mpg pulling a Grand Junction camper. I just found a tractor it hasent been modified its stock. Dad likes it and we have looked with no luck. And on the plus side it runs a drives.

Just a note, I occasionally find tractors that I like and a price that I like. You also have to figure in travel time to get them, that fact sometimes makes them not worth it to me. You need to decide how badly you want the tractor & weather the delivery charge is worth it to you. You also need to take into account that you have not seen the tractor. Running & driving does not mean that the tractor will not need work.  I have bought & paid for non-runners, then drove them on the trailer in front of the previous owner. This did not make them ready to use tractors.

So it’s 4 hours away I think you posted somewhere, 8 hour round trip? Are you getting charged?

A trip like that would be around $125 just in fuel for my truck, not factoring in my time and food.
