Grader blade install on 312

Recommended Posts

JoeB

Hello,

It seems every time I try something new I have to come here to get some wisdom.  My latest challenge is installing a grader on my 321 hydro.

I can attach it to the quick connect but I don't see where to attach the link to my hydraulic system.  If I raise it as high it will go, the three holes in the part that I attach my snowblower to are all to low.  The chain that lifts the mower is attached about that but I don't see how to reach it and if I did I would have to remove the chain which doesn't seem right.  Sorry if I don't have the names of these parts right, but I hope you know what I mean.  It seems like a need a short linkage bar between the hydraulic and the grader blade.

Any wisdom would be much appreciated.  I forgot to mention, its a pull grader.

Best,

joe

I'm not going to be able to answer your question, but I might be able to point you in a direction.  Is it a Wheel Horse grader blade??  If so, do you know the model number?  If not, I would look in the Manuals Section for grader blades and they should show how to hook them up.  The hook up should be common to most 300 & 400 series horses.  I have a feeling the solid link is what you want to have...Wheel Horse made several lengths of solid links, but you could make your own.  :occasion-xmas:

The grader is a Wheelhorse and looks just like the picture below.  The linkage it looks like the bottom one in the picture on the left.  Perhaps I need the upper linkage?

thanks for the image.  However I don't see the place to attach the grader so that I can apply down pressure.  The hole labeled snow/grader I think is for the front plow rather than the mid frame grader.

thanks again,

best,

joe

Go to Wheelhorse Parts and More website and they sell the grader blade solid lift link that go from the hole in the above diagram to your grader blade

WHX??

Might be this one but best to call Lowell to make sure. He will know what you need.

Just to get the jargon right the black one in back is a pull behind or rear blade. The one up front is called a mid mount.

You use the upper link and attach it to where the diagram says "all other attachments "  I remove the chain thingy and the mower deck lift bar when using the mid grader.

Thanks all for all the good information.  Two other questions.  It seems I have to remove the mover lift linkage from that trunnion.  Is that the case?  Second I have a terrible time trying to get the linkage rod up there to attach it.  Perhaps my hands are too big.  Any tips on the best way to do that?

Thanks again

Yes. it's a pain to attach those parts on a 312. There isn't an easy way to attach to that lift point on a 312. That lower panel is removable but all the wiring is attached to it and will come unattached if moved enough to get your hand in there.

A reason to buy another Wheel Horse a C-series 1973 to 1977 they are easier to get to that lift point.

The mower deck lift bar you may be able to tie it up out of the way.  I can't say for sure as my grader blade is home made and my lift point on the blade might be different.

I have C series and tie the mower deck lift bar out of the way.  The lift point is a little easier to get to on a C series, but not much.
