Sparky-(Admin) 21,326 #1 Posted April 1, 2022 After a test fit I have decided my newly scored Carlisle All-trails are going onto the 315… but not without a paint job. Only a coat of primer so far 17

Never tried that method but have heard good things about it’s success rate. Always masked mine off with good results. I am interested in what Eric’s @ebinmaine paint department thinks of my work 5

Oh, and really nice tires, have a similar tread on a zero turn... Edited April 2, 2022 by "Manic-Mechanic"

Pretty simple actually - deflate the tire - don't break the bead. Place a card lengthwise in between the rim and tire - overlap, then the next and so on. A deck of 54 with the Jokers does 2 12-inch tires. 1

She uses the playing cards method or a row of tape around the rim connected to newspaper. 4 1
jeepdan 321 #8 Posted April 2, 2022 Very nice! What is the actual diameter of the Carlisle All Trail 23x8.00-12 tires?
Sparky-(Admin) 21,326 #9 Posted April 2, 2022 Done! Two coats of this paint and I’m happy with the results. I’ll post up a pic of them mounted on the 315 soon. 3
Sparky-(Admin) 21,326 #10 Posted April 2, 2022 I’m not a huge fan of Ag tires, they look cool but serve no purpose for what I do. These Carlisle All-Trails are just perfect! 5

Brockport Bill 1,668 #15 Posted April 2, 2022 i have used the playing cards --- they work great - let out some air and stick them in ....faster than the detail work of tape to do curved fit in circle to get clean tight fit - but i love the larger flash cards - also i have used cards to do smaller mower deck wheel rims

I want to put some Ags on my 416-8 - I was sliding sideways the last few days trying to haul hay and feed out to the horses. It's been wet and very muddy. I have a pair of rear wheel weights but I'm sure I'd still spin even with those on. What I'd really like to do is buy a used pair or set of 4 Ags with rims for this tractor, if I can find some for a decent price. Brand new is a bit too much for my budget right now. BTW, when I bought it, it already had what looks like brand new chrome (or chrome painted) rear rims. It had one front tire that had numerous plugs and was leaking a lot, so I decided to buy a new pair of rims and tires. First thing I did was paint the rims with chrome paint. I'll take a few pictures tomorrow and post when I get a chance. I know chrome rims aren't original, but they look pretty darn good. If I ever decide to do a full restore, I'd want to go original color on the rims. (Which is white? or off-white? cream?) If I get Ags, these chrome rims will go on the 312-A but I'll need to swap out the spindles for the fronts - 312-A has 6 inchers. Eights would look better anyway.

Installing your weights will likely help as well because down pressure adds to traction. ..... Unless the mud is deep enough to sink the tractor with the added weight. That's unlikely but possible.
davem1111 2,030 #19 Posted April 3, 2022 Rear rims were already silver/chrome when I bought this tractor. Bought new wheels & rims for the front and painted them to match before putting them on the tractor. Bought through Walmart - the rims required about a 1" spacer added on the inside on the spindle, which is a bit of a hack but seems to work fine.
