You can install an electric lift, which is a linear actuator. I believe you have to change the rock shaft which is the thing your manual lift is attached to now. The 418-8 speed came factory with this.

no factory kit to switch to hydraulic lift.  the hydraulic lift comes on wh tractors that have the hydro tranny.  you could switch the tranny from 8 speed to hydro but that is a major job.  buying a good used hydro equipped wh would be the easiest way to go. what are you trying to lift that is too heavy?  they make lift assist springs that do a great job in raising the attachment much easier.

Doable yes, for sure. Trivial? Not.

@c-series don mentioned the rockshaft. You have to replace it. That's the shaft that crosses through the tractor and is attached to the big manual lift arm. The rock shaft  is in two pieces: the shaft attached to the lift lever, and a tube which has the little arms to which the plow, mower, and rear lift cable attach. These two parts are keyed together like a wheel hub and axle. They are very often rusted together. The shaft and tube must be separated to remove them from the tractor but their location makes it extremely difficult to apply pressure to separate the parts.

And then the parts. Last I saw here in the classifieds (or maybe the bay?) the complete setup was going for $300 or so.
