857lover 291 #1 Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) so i’ve been having this issue with my (867) 857 with a six speed so my issue is that it’s slow to get off the line in 3 high but it gets up to a normal speed after a second but like climbing a not so steep hill it like feels like it wants to stop climbing but the engine isn’t bogging down or anything it just feels like the wheels want to stop spinning and then it will stop moving and the wheels won’t keep spinning they just stop and the belt just starts slipping any ideas ?? @danweikert21 Edited March 27, 2022 by 857lover Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
peter lena 8,720 #2 Posted March 27, 2022 @857lover when was the last time you changed trans fluid ? have you ever lubricated related linkage movement points? how is the condition of that idler pulley and follow spring tension? every related cross frame mount shaft , should have needed lubrication . just going over a basic functional check , to find the fault spot . with that exposure level , you should be able to find it , maybe have someone else drive it in low range , so you can visually see what is possibly going on . leaning toward, rusty linkage movement areas , if there is the slightest delay in spring tension on that idler pulley , that could cause your issue . just some ideas , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

peter lena 8,720 #4 Posted March 27, 2022 @857lover yes , that related shaft movement to spring pull , or failure will affect its transfer of power to the transaxle. my experience with possible rusty issues , is to aerosol lubricant spray and move dry areas till the rust runs out , glad your trans oil is new , that by itself , is showing you the way , that the problem is probably linkage related , and not in the trans . , that makes things easier , that clutch pedal should take up very smoothly , with no sudden grabbing , find it , its in the related linkage . greasy , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

squonk 41,314 #7 Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) I'm assuming you put the key in for the transmission pulley? Did you ever check the axle shaft keys from the last time you posted about tractor stopping when you got stuck and you said a hub was sliding on an axle? By his pics belt doesn't look bad. This problem seems to have cropped up when the trans was swapped. He mentioned one of the hubs was sliding on the axle in his other thread. Since this issue started with the trans swap I'm sure the issue is there and not with the belt or idler. i was just at my hardware store picked up a spring and put it on its a little tighter of a spring and that seemed to help a lot im not sure if the wheel will spin now when i get stuck also there is a woodruf key on my transmission pulley and i dont think my hubs are the problem as they have not moved since i adjusted them Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

squonk 41,314 #20 Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) Belt looks too deep in the pulley. The inside flat edge of the belt shouldn't be riding on the inner face of the pulley. Also the belt outer edge is below the pulley outer edge. Compare it to how the belt sits on your trans pulley. You need the proper width pulley. I have the proper engine pulley for that tractor.
