1967 Wheelhorse Lawn Ranger mowing noise?

Recommended Posts

When i go to start mowing with my lawn ranger the right side seems to be a lot louder than the left. Almost like the gears are slipping but they aren’t. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I can see grease moving under the spindle gear and the gray color indicates to me that there might be metal filings in that grease.

Seems like that spindle may have a worn bearing, but I'm sure someone with more experience with that deck will chime it.

Looks to me like the spindle bearings are bad. It seams to be moving around too much.

Check for even a slight amount of play in the spindle by trying to wiggle the blade (with the engine off, of course).

Get the model number of the deck and look on this site for its IPL. If memory serves, I believe those decks used bushings.
