Decal Removal

Recommended Posts

WHX??

So I got this truck I am buying that is heavily lettered. Appears to be vinyl decals and lots of them. Lots of small ones too.

What's the best way to get them off. I have been using a heat gun and single edge razor blade but it is time consuming.

Especially with the small ones.  They don't come off whole but in small pieces.

Is there a better (faster) way to get them off?

Some kind of vinyl softener?

I haven't tried it yet but some kind of adessive remover to take off the residue that's left?

@Vinylguy are you as good at getting them off as you are putting them on? :)

Any ideas?

I like a hand held hair dryer, might be better then a heat gun.  Acetone might help once you get the sticker started.  :eusa-think:

One of these will take them off with out damaging the paint. Wipe any left over residue off with charcoal lighter fluid. Used this system a lot in the body shop.

Removal of traditional cast adhesive back vinyl lettering is tedious work at times. the longer they have been on the more work required to remove.

Heat gun and plastic blades worked best for me but the vinyl eraser wheels come in handy and can save time. Removing adhesive residue is also fun. :(

I use Rapid remove. a bit cashy but my favorite.

Can't believe you don't have an eraser wheel. Look under the flower pots. Might find one under there that you "forgot" you had. :teasing-poke:

You should leave "never felt so good" on the doors! :occasion-xmas:
