roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted March 17, 2022 Don't have an 857, but before you cut a hood make a taller hinge bracket or spacer...

Pullstart 62,905 #4 Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) I believe then you’d have essentially a 1057, which was a thing. That said, it should fit just fine *edit K301=12 hp. 1257. Edited March 17, 2022 by Pullstart

squonk 41,150 #7 Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) Yes you need the shallow pan and the correct connecting rod to go with it. A K301 will use a lot more fuel than a K181. You'll get stranded in the woods. Edited March 17, 2022 by squonk 1
WHX?? 48,828 #8 Posted March 17, 2022 Or bob the rod....or use a Cub short pan and hack the frame up to fit. You would also need a different pulley. Better idea is to look for a roller long frame to put it in.

Important thing to look for is the threaded mounting holes in the bottom for the right hand side mounting bolts. You could also try posting in the want adds here for a 1045 oil pan.
