Bill D 1,915 #1 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) I made this today. Still need to paint it. Hooks in the front tach-o-matic for towing a non running horse. Edited March 15, 2022 by Bill D 4 4 1
Pullstart 62,812 #2 Posted March 15, 2022 Awesome! @ericj has a slick hauler for dead horses too. It’s like a two truck sling… where it grabs the front (or rear?) tires and you can lift it up.
Bill D 1,915 #3 Posted March 15, 2022 The big question is, will the dead horse follow along or not? I've seen cars flat towed behind RV's that steer fine. Will a Horse with bad front alignment do the same? Thoughts?

No, you're talking about towing with another WH, aren't you? Good point about the steering following! Hope someone will be able to answer that because I've always wondered how and why that works for flat towing vehicles.
SylvanLakeWH 25,503 #5 Posted March 15, 2022 I was wondering if it needed to be tied to the tie rods somehow or if it would just follow like a good little pony… or require a person to steer…
pfrederi 17,685 #6 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) Flat tows ...least the army type I am familiar with are basically triangular. two heavy tubes each from the towing pintle loop to the shackles on the dead vehicle. (blue lines) This set up would put a lot of stress on the connection (red Circle) but then WHs are no multi ton vehicles... Hopefully it doesn't bend. More worried about bending the hitch on the tractor. The long center piece is 1" solid square stock from a railing. The 5/8" bar is from a parted out deck. Side braces and flat stock are from a scraped lawn aerator. It's heavy.
