Mustang67ford 234 #1 Posted March 12, 2022 Decided to start a restoration tread on the 86 414-8 I'm redoing. Picked it up around october 2021 from somebody I know that was moving after it sat for about a year. They were the original owner and always kept inside. It ran and cut, but decided to fix it up a little. What a small project turned into more than expected. But on the home stretch now. Starting with pics as it sat before it was brought home.

Mustang67ford 234 #13 Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) New beefed up steering thru the dash with dry sleeve bearing and thrust washers and thrust bearing at the collar. Ready for assembly. Thanks to Eric Friedrichsen as his post on the dry bearing help here. I decided to put the bearing under the lip and notched the nut for the circuit board. If so, it's a bit late now, but check the four frame plate holes where the Unidrive bolts on for cracks. Hope it does not look like this ....

The steering block where the upper steering shaft goes in to meet the fan shaft. The hole was worn out. I'll have to check the plate you mentioned. I didn't notice anything but I didn't give it a good look either.

ri702bill 8,319 #24 Posted March 15, 2022 I knew something was going on - the tractor wiggled side to side like an inch worm on uneven terrain - only one of the four screws had a solid hold!!
