csvt99 173 #1 Posted March 12, 2022 I have an 877 that has been sitting for 2-3 years. I'm planning to replace the motor this spring so the kids can run it. I believe it has the Sunstrand hydro in it. Do I need to replace the fluid after sitting that long? Thanks!
Ed Kennell 38,634 #2 Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) Sitting 2-3 years is not a problem, but when was the fluid changed? Make sure you know what is in there now. It may be ATF (pink) or motor oil (amber). Do not mix the two. Edited March 12, 2022 by Ed Kennell
squonk 41,320 #3 Posted March 12, 2022 877 Should have ATF (Dexron Mercon) unless someone went through the trouble to change it. I would at least change the filter Napa 1410 Wix 51410
csvt99 173 #4 Posted March 12, 2022 Ok thanks. It has ATF and I changed it about 8 years ago when I replaced the o rings 🙂. I used it weekly for about 2-4 years after that, and then just occasionally.
Digger 66 3,485 #5 Posted March 12, 2022 My stance is : Fluid(s) is / are cheaper than gears , bearings , teardowns . If there's any doubt about the age or condition , drain & replace .
