JUSS10 250 #1 Posted March 10, 2022 So used to be really active on the forum many years ago. Life gets busy, etc but a few weeks back I was talking to a former co-worker who around 8 years ago I sold a GT14 to and asked what he ever did with it. Essentially it just sat in the back of his barn collecting dust. I asked if he wanted to sell it back and he said sure. I've wished I had kept the tractor after I sold it so it was pretty cool to see it again. It was pretty dirty when I originally bought it from Kelly Hollister but it was straight and relatively complete and un-molested for its age. I remember it had transmission issues when I got it. The acceleration springs were completely destroyed. If memory serves right, I used a set of springs from a bronco 14 roller I had picked up cheap but when driving it around the other day, it still feels weak in reverse. Going to have to dig in to that. Anyway, the engine fired right up and runs well and as stated it moves forward well and I parked it against a log and the rear tires would spin when trying to go forward so thats all good. My plan is to tune it up and add a front and mid attach-a-matic so I can use the decks from newer tractors and make this my all around yard machine. Its a nice (re)addition to the stable alongside my 953 and 1054A. A few questions for those who know more than me on this machine. it runs ATF, should I do a total flush even if the fluid looks good or can I just top it off? I picked up a FRAM PH16 filter as that cross referenced for the WH one but it seems like everyone uses WIX or NAPA, should I ditch the FRAM filter? Anyone have a nice set of acceleration springs laying around they want to sell? I see wheelhorse parts and more have a set for $32 so thats not bad if thats the route I have to go. Nothing wrong with ATF if everything else is good. When I had to take mine apart to replace an axle I drained the filter and changed it over to 10 W 30, drove it around a few minutes and ran the lift up and down then changed the filter and oil again to be sure I'd flushed it well. I can't tell the difference but 10 W 30 is les expensive. For $ 32.00 I would do away with the used springs and buy a new set from @wheelhorseman . Stories of stuff coming back home are interesting. the guy I bought my 312-8 from messaged me a couple months after I bought it and said if I wasn’t happy with it or regretted the purchase he’d buy it back from me. If you're going to order it be very careful about your source. You might find that a Napa OR a Wix is easier to get off of eBay and much less expensive than off the jungle site.
