Bedliner Coating and Paint

Been messing around with some parts that need painted and were pitted but not rusted out. 

I read where it will adhere if you can paint over top of bedliner coating if done within the first 24 hours after the bedliner coating is applied. 

Tried a couple foot pads and they seem pretty durable.

Trying it on a seat pan now.

if the parts you are putting bedliner on are rusted, may I suggest you treat them with Phosphoric Acid such as OSPH to kill the rust.  Awhile back a member here stripped the bubbling bedline off a new to him fender pan that has rust growing under it.

Iron Armor Truck Bed Coating from Harbo Fright.

No rust, metal was wire cup wheeled to bare metal and primed with Rustoleum primer. Light sand with 500.

To get the consistent coating I had to hold the can about 20 inch away from the piece or it was spotty and streaky. 

I tested Rustoleum bed coating and it gave a more uneven texture.

Curious just how durable it is. If it's pretty tough, that will be great on footrests. Let us know how it works.

That could have been me...  I think it was rusting under the bedliner because whomever sprayed the bedliner did almost ZERO prep.  Just sprayed over whatever was there.

 

I think if one were to perform proper prep as Joe obviously has, it should be a long lasting rust free deal!  It does look pretty neat!

I have used Plasti Dip spray on the underside of mower decks and had good results. It gives a smooth finish and comes in colors including RED.

All but the hood. 

I have the foot pads done top and bottom like the seat pan. 

 

I put a tape in lay on the foot pans so the tread tape would stick. I forgot to do this on the rear pan for the decal. might have to improvise. 

I  have it all done in a couple week and will post a pic or two.

Ive painted some parts for my truck with bedliner and then color matched with paint and it held up well. Bit i definitely never thought of doing a tractor that way. Looks GOOD!

i did my footrests with bedliner black a couple weeks ago at suggestion of a Red Sq friend --- came out looking good -- primer, plus 3 coats of BL spray -- i was looking to mirror the 
"black"  appearance elsewhere on tractor -- black engine, tires, steering wheel, black hood C175, tunnel and dash plates, etc --- the idea to do footrests started with discussion about availability and where to get footrest tread material - so decided to try the bedliner spray as alternative --- have not yet reinstalled the footrests on tractor, or actually used yet to determine effeciveness of being "slip proof" etc -- but at least they look cool so far
