"Manic-Mechanic" 1,194 #1 Posted March 3, 2022 I can tighten 2 of the 3 spindles, the third begins to get stiff. However the assembly does use a nyloc nut that I can back off a tad. Also, this is a modified 5-0620 and the one piece cover will no longer fit. Can the two piece covers work from the 5-36YR01? LH 107449 RH 107050
Goldnboy 910 #2 Posted March 3, 2022 I no longer use nylon lock nuts on any of my deck spindles. I use a lock washer and half nut. It also allows you to remove the woodruff key. There was a service builten in the files section about this upgrade.

I found the bearings were mucked up, spindle shaft had a warbled out keyway too. So gonna put the order in for all new bearings, a lot of work shame if I let the other two spindles slide... Wasn't aware of this.

Thanks for the link. Gist is that if using the key, the self-locking nut is fine but to skip the key you need the "free running" nut so that the pulley rotation will torque it down. Clever!
